The Office of Civil Defense in Bicol (OCD-5) reported on Saturday that 96 families or 275 individuals, have sought shelter in evacuation centers as continuous rains from Tropical Depression Wilma and the shearline affect the region. OCD-5 spokesperson Gremil Alexis Naz said most of the evacuees are from Masbate, with 92 families (262 individuals), while the remaining four are from Catanduanes (13 individuals). Meanwhile, 4,142 passengers remained stranded in multiple ports -- 3,550 passengers in Sorsogon, 369 in Masbate, 216 in Albay, and seven in Camarines Norte. A total of 1,132 rolling cargoes, two vessels, and two motorbancas were also unable to travel due to rough sea conditions. The agency recorded flooding in five villages in Albay and Camarines Sur -- Masarawag and Maguiron in Guinobatan; Vel-Amor in Legazpi City; and Sabang and Bunot Santa Rosa in Calabanga. Several roads were impassable, including six village roads in Guinobatan and Nabua, Camarines Sur. In all, 18 villages across Bicol were affected. The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol provided assistance to stranded travelers. At Pio Duran Port in Albay, 216 boxes of ready-to-eat food (RTEF) were distributed to passengers bound for Masbate. Another 400 RTEF boxes were given to 2,000 locally stranded individuals at Matnog Port, while 28 boxes went to passengers waiting at Castilla Port, both in Sorsogon. Hot meals were also served to 400 individuals in Matnog.
