Thirteen people died and 35 were injured of varying severity this Saturday in a bus accident in Beni Abbes, in eastern Algeria, where the authorities are investigating the causes and circumstances in which the accident occurred, reported Algerian state television. Shortly after the event became known, the Algerian Prime Minister, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased through his social media and wished the injured a speedy recovery. "We are deeply saddened by the traffic accident that occurred today in the state of Beni Abbes, which claimed the lives of 13 of our citizens. With deep sorrow and pain, I express my most sincere condolences and solidarity with the families of the deceased victims (...) and to the injured, the wish for a speedy recovery," wrote the president. At the moment, the ages and sex of the victims are unknown, as well as the condition of the injured, who were transferred to the health centers and hospitals closest to the scene of the accident by Civil Protection personnel and military personnel from the area. There is also no official information about the route the bus was taking at the time of the accident, nor whether it was a regular passenger transport line on a short or long route, or another type of trip.
